We did a Pampas trip with Bala tours in the fall of 2011. We picked the company as they had a good reputation. The lodging was fine. Even though you have a separate room, it is really not separate as the walls do not go higher than 2 meters. There are no locks, so bring something to keep your valuables... More

OK guys - we have written this as four travellers the day after a Pampas tour with Dolphins Tours. May we say firstly that this is less a critique of Dolphin Tours and more to do with the general state of the Pampas tours of Rurrenabaque. Firstly we were alarmed by the lack of safety and security advice about staying... More

We did a 2 day Jungle trip and a 3 day Pampa Trip with Donato Tours. Both were very good. In the jungle accomodation was basic but sufficient. Don't expect too much, you're in the middle of the jungle! Our guide showed us a lot of plants and animals (mostly insects) in the jungle and we tried a lot of... More

We just returned from a four day, three night trip to Madidi with Mashaquipe and had an excellent time!! Mashaquipe was recommended to us by our travel agent in La Paz, and despite being more expensive than some of the other trips, we chose this group because of their eco rating and indigenous involvement. We had been warned prior to... More

I was anxious after reading lots of reviews, about choosing a good tour operator who respected the environment. I was pleased with Bala Tours. We bought a 2 night 3 day tour through Kanoo Tours in La Paz. Kanoo also booked our flights to Rurrenabaque. Due to the local elections, we were given an extra night free in the pampas... More

I went on the pampa tour with Dolphin Tours. Possibly, regardless with which of 10 or 20 companies offering this standard tour from Rurrenabaque you go, you'll see the same great wildlife - caimans lye every 2-3 meters along the shore, there are scores of turtles and capybaras, and plenty of birds, including jabiru storks. We had a good guide,... More

We went with Dolphin Tours as well to the pampas and found they were average. The main issue was that they handled the wildlife- pulling out anacondas from the swamp and touching them, patting crocodiles etc. We were told we had Dolphin's highest ranking guide as well, so this was very disappointing. This company could be hectic to go with... More

Favorite tour of the Bolivian jungle. We went with Indigineous Tours. The operator were unhelpful, the jeep with loads of dust but our guide incredible. Avoid feeding the monkeys. Many guides will encourage this in order to better their clients experience but it is more damaging to their survival. The cabins we slept at also had sewage and drainage that... More

We asked in a few agencies before choosing Fluvial. It seems to be very popular as there ended up being 23 people that day just with their agency. A boat/jeep transport holds 8 pax max. They have two separate lodges so can take on big numbers of people. This is not a luxurious tour despite a fixed price (by all... More

We booked our Pampas tour in La Paz with Indigena Tours, and it was fantastic! Our guide, Victor, was absolutely excellent, with extensive knowledge on every sighting and every question we asked, and he spoke near-perfect English. He was really friendly and caring towards us, which made this trip very easy. He was also very ecologically aware, warning us not... More
