The Oregon Shakespeare Festival has very high quality theatre, Shakespeare, other classics and more modern fare, including some brand new plays in three different venues. Normally we see Shakespeare plays when we go toAshland. However, Equivocation, which is a very entertaining play about William Shakespeare and the gunpowder plot that took place during his time was fantantastic. It provided a lot of historical context and insight into his plays as well as having relevance to today's times. The audience all seemed to enjoy it. I... more

I go regularly to theater in New York and London...Oregon Shakespeare Festival ranks with those cities' theater. This year I saw all 9 plays in 6 days; my favorite was "View from the Bridge," directed by Libby Appel, previous director of the festival and starring Armando Duran who brings to life and even sympathy the character of Miller's unenlightened protagonist... more

The first time I went to Ashland was with my friend's family when I was 12 years old. I was thrilled beyond belief as I had never experienced live theater before. I was hooked. Ashland is a cool town. The areas had got sunshine, wineries, mineral springs, and Shakespeare. The caliber of the theater performances is fabulous. And you can walk down the street and overhear conversations about the Bard. It's really weird and wonderful - a highly recommended vacation! more

This was our 1st visit to the Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, and it was a wonderful experience. We saw 5 plays in 3 days, and it is difficult to select the best. Everything about this Festival was fabulous. The plays equal or are even better than Broadway. I saw six plays my favorite this year being A Midsummer Night"s Dream. The town of Ashland is charming, the restarants and shopping are wonderful. The people in the town are great, friendly and warm. Go to this Festival and have a great time. See... more
