Fabulous place with heaps of roman statues and jewelery from Troy. The hordes of school children took away a bit but was still worth every minute

I enjoyed spending some time here. I purchased the English audio guide for an extra 5TL. Unfortunately some of the exhibits were closed as they were doing some renovations. But the ticket office informed me of this first before I purchased my ticket for 15TL. The exhibits are nice and I learned a lot. Noisy tour groups may show up...

This is maybe one of the greatest museums of the world. Good thing about it is that it is small, items on display is limited. They don't display all they have but best of all. The chronological display helps unfold history.
Currently several of the museum's halls are closed for renovation, but it's still worth a visit if you are interested in archeology. We loved all the artifact they had from the Hittites. Audio guides are available for rent. Give yourself about 2 hours for the visit. Café (overpriced) and good gift shop are available on the premises. The citadel (free)...

When I visited this museum in the late 1990's I thought it was the best museum I had ever seen. I enjoyed it this time too, but so much was missing because of the restorations. I found the Hittite sculpture awesome.
As noted by others, the renovations limit the amount of history on display including some of their more famous holdings. That being the case, you may be left hungering for more depending on your taste for early history. The ticket office does however, alert you that only two rooms are open and for that reason the audio guide is offered...

Learned about civilisation I had never heard of before. Amazing jewelry, unbelieivable delicate. Definitely visit, eventhough part of the museum is still closed.
Very interesting, and unusual for me, a wonderful gift shop. Really well explained and worth a visit
It's a nice small museum. In one hour and a half you have an overview about Turkey past through civilizations. Things are exhibited properly. Everything is interesting. Go there if you are in Ankara or nearby - if you are not going to Ankara, well, I think you can survive without visiting it. Ankara is not worth a visit.
Only 2 of the 5 exhibit rooms are open. It is definitely worth a visit with a confusing audio guide at reduced rates.
