This is a small market street where chefs and housewives alike come for groceries. If you're picturing a market like Tsukiji in Tokyo, you'll be disappointed. It's a good place to see what everyday people shop in Osaka.

By chance I was staying only 5 minutes walk from this market. I had a great time wandering around, first of all with a Japanese friend who explained all sorts of things for me, and then later on my own. Most stalls seem to open from around 10am, although some cafes and the bakery open a bit earlier, lunch places... More

This Market has everything from fresh seafood to Green tea Kitkats! Highlight of the visit was being able to try the deadly Fugu (puffer fish) for about 1,000 yen you get to buy a small plate of Fugu sashimi. Before trying it let me warn you that Fugu is included in the World's Top 10 deadliest Food. :) Enjoy!

I had delicious sashimi for breakfast here, and afterwards found a few more things I wish I could still fit into my stomach (grilled oysters and scallops and tempura). I liked this place better than Dotonbori! When I visit Osaka again, I'll make sure to give this place more than one visit.

We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and quite a number of shops and restaurants were closed. However, there were still enough food stores that opened offering great prices for fruits, dry food, seafood etc. We bought loads of delicious strawberries at a real bargain. We certainly like to return again and dine at some of the small eateries with live... More

This place is like a seafood market with super fresh sashimi/sushi!! You can sit down in front of the shop and get to eat what you want for a way cheaper price from what you have been paying in your home country!! We had a couple of meals here :) They have sashimi, a few shops have okonomiyaki and takoyaki,... More

Very pleasant to be able to have a walk at the neat sheltered street and see how Japanese ppl could display their produce nicely and tidily. Sashimi is a must try, the Makuro sashimi is at great value at most of the shops.

My parents and I love to eat - we thought we have died and gone to heaven when we stumbled into this market. In lieu of eating at restaurants, we bought all of our meals at Kuromon and went back to our hotel to enjoy our spoils. A few examples of what we got, all restaurant-quality fare: Miso glazed cod,... Kuromon Ichiba is a local market and is nice to spend an hour or two here wandering around. Its a good way to know the local culture here. There is a fish shop called Sanpei where you can buy the pre-packed sushi and sashimi and eat at the premises itself. There is no charge for eating in. The sushi and... More

Every time we go to Osaka we always go to Kuromon Ichiba market. It's easy to spend hours here. This market has unique food items in grocery stores, little mom-and-pop shops, cozy places to eat (if you want to be served) and munching on Japanese food (fresh croquettes) while walking around. There's everything here, including drug stores. The fresh seafood... More
