This was THE wow factor of St Petersburg for us! Not only is the exterior of the palace soooo photographed and world-famous, especially if you are lucky enough to be there on a sunny day and when there's no remodelling happening, but the inside has double the wow factor as a museum. What riches and treasures are contained within! So... More

Our excellant guide, Olga with SPB, made our day even more exciting and worderful to see the Hermitage. Make sure to have a full day to see it all as it has many people there and can't always get as close as one would like to see. So much there and it is gorgerous.

Even though we are not museum lovers, you can't fail to be impressed by the Hermitage. The buildings, the scale and the collections are very impressive. I therefore thought I'd pass on my best tips to ensure you get the most out of your visit. - buy your ticket online before you go. Then exchange your voucher at the kiosk... More

There is quite a long queue to get in but it is worth the wait. The palace part is beautiful (in particular the Jourdain stairs) and shows how the tsars & courts lived in very nicely and richerly decorated rooms. Then the (huge) collections feature items from all times & civilization, with some very famous one. The bird-clock is a... More

We were on a cruise and called in here, sadly only for a day and a night. I could spend a month in St Petersburg it is so interesting and there is so much to see. We were lucky enough to go to a private party viewing of the Hermitage in the evening, when it was closed to others. We... More

This is my favorite museum as it contains quite a variety of stuff to see. It is rather crowded, so be patient as you walk around. Plan 2-3 hours minimal. You could spend days if you are a real museum fan.

Save time to see it all. The French Impressionism collection is very good. This has to be the very first visit in S. Petersburg while you are still in a good shape.

The hermitage is the best museum that I have ever seen... even if it is not so well organised : for example the map that they give it's not good...inspite of this the collection is amazing... Some advices: 1Before the visit organised your plan: choose what you interest most because it isn't possible see all the things. 2 if you... More

This is a don't miss if you have any interest at all in art. There are fabulous, extensive collections of the Masters (an entire hall of Rembrandts, for example, and three rooms of Picasso) and a wonderful complement of Impressionists. Like the Louvre, it can easily take more than a day just to walk through it. We bought a two-day... More
