This Monastery, Moldovita Monastery and Sucevita Monastery are MUST sees. We were there in March 2012 and it was really snowing, but the Monasteries are just amazing. Think that I will have a photo book just of the painted monasteries:-) We took that many photos. More

On our tour of Romania this was a highlight. I saw three of the Painted Monasteries. One would be enough. Be sure to have a guided tour of this as there is much information that makes it even better. There is a fee for taking photographs of the outside of the church. One can take no pictures of the interior.... More

I've been there and I can definitely say I liked the place. The monastery it is quite small compared to what I imagined but I really enjoyed seeing its paintings. There's even a joke like : People in Romania stopped painting monasteries on the outside because visitors were not entering in, they were just admiring the outside. The place is... More

It's very peaceful there with the monks and nuns going about their business; gardening, reciting prayers etc. It's about 5 mins drive... More
