On our tour of Romania this was a highlight. I saw three of the Painted Monasteries. One would be enough. Be sure to have a guided tour of this as there is much information that makes it even better. The painted monasteries were a highlight of my trip. Absolutely stunning. All approx 15 century with frescoes inside and out. The only bits where they were faded were in the parts of the church that get the sun. It's very peaceful there with the monks and nuns going about their business; gardening, reciting prayers etc. It's about 5 mins drive... More
