We visited Coiba island in April and we loved the unspoiled nature. We booked a 3 night Coiba tour with Tanager Tourism (located in Mariato on the Azuero peninsula west coast). We were the only two in our group and were accompanied by guide Kees and Marco the boatsman. The tour was very complete. The package contained a delicious first... More

I dove in Coiba 4 days, from March 10-18, 2013. We got bad visibility on every dive : never more than 25 feet, about 15-20 feet on 2 occasions. I was concentrating very hard not to lose the divemaster. There was a lot of plancton in the water, perhaps carried by the cold (72F) currents we got. This is very... More

This dive location has it all. On 3 dives we saw everything from nudibranches to a whale shark! The marine life was just outstanding -- eels, rays, sharks, turtles, frog fish, barracudas, etc. And the diving is never boring, between the thermacline and the currents and the marine life, there's always something exciting!

I visited Coiba first time in 2008 after i was reading some good reviews. Santa Catalina - the getaway to Isla Coiba - was then a tiny town, no Internet, frequent power failures and a few cabinas and small hotels. Santa Catalina is well known for two reasons: 1: World Class surfing and probably the best surfing in Panama 2:... More

In February I spent three nights there with a tour company. First, beware! If you read the reviews, you will read that at least one cruise ship company makes a day stop there. When that happens, the beach and services are swamped with cruise passengers and cruise staff! The generator is not working. There are no fans in the room.... More

We visited Coiba in February as part of a small group with Tanager Tourism. It was a terrific experience, one I highly recommend. Coiba was in fact one of the most amazing places either of us has been to, so remote, so beautiful, and remarkably pristine. We stayed on the island for two nights, and the ANAM bunkhouses were basic... More

We spent a night at the rustic cabins at the ANAM station. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the cabins! The one we had contained 6 beds for dorm style accomodations in a realitively clean environment. The toilet in our room was not working properly, so we used the public facilities in the middle of the beach area. They... More

Our Cruise ship ferried us to this beach for a barbeque. The beach looked very nice and the water was crystal clear. people enjoyed the snorkeling. The beach our ship used had minimal facilities for a barbeque. It was like going to a small lack in NJ that you pay $ 5 for a car load of people. This complaint... More

It was like being in Paradise! We went snorkeling around the island. It is totally unspoiled and beautiful. I would not recommend staying overnight, however, because there are no facilities. Stay in Santa Catalina and go over by boat!

Snorkeling was well worth the bone jarring 2 hour boat ride to get there. There was a great place on the beach for picnicking. We stopped at three different places to snorkel.
