I had a 12 hour stop in Dec 2011 and I thought rather than use the complicated train system, I would use the direct bus from narita airport to the temple. The bus came on time at the airport and the courteous driver communicated well thru sign language. I was so impressed, I bought the return ticket costing 500 Yen.... More

Within walking distance from the Narita Main Station (hotels run shuttles) - and a nice walk through small streets and shops, to boot, the Temple is a large, beautiful complex with a number of temples and structures. Very serene, and a great way to spend a couple of hours. Take a trek into the park area for a nice nature... More

I had a 7.5 hour layover at the Narita Airport in mid-April 2012. It was a Monday, so many attractions are closed. Further, I arrived at 0800, so the sleepy little town was still asleep. The Japanese immigration was slow but efficient. You mark on your immigration form that you are in transit. The tourist information booth downstairs in the... More

Walked to this place from Narita train station where the hotel bus had dropped me off. Although I wasn't planning to visit the temple I came across it and wandered in. Really nice setting in what is in the middle of a pretty busy city. Good few photo opportunities and nice to see some of "old Japan" while there. More

It's a grand temple. I especially like to walk the hilly garden. April to May and November are probably the best as you won't be pestered by mosquitoes. More

If you have the time, it is worth visiting this site and shops in the vicinity of this temple. Most hotels offer a free shuttle service to/from hotel to Narita station. This temple is approximately a 15-45 minute walk from the train station, depending on how much time is spent at window browsing. Near this area there are many shops... More

Was my last 2 days holiday trip before heading home and decide to stay in Narita before the next morning flight. To me surprise, Narita itself is very much interesting place with unexpected surprise. The temple itself even though is not as busy as in Tokyo Asakusa but it shows the tradition and culture of an "old Japan" in a... More

NARITA hotels usually have a free shuttle to Narita train station. The shuttle bus stops right next to Narita city hall. There is a Lawson (like 7 & 11) right across the street. You take escalator up the hill and you will see McDonald's. Follow the road up the hill about 35 minutes walking slowly would bring you to this... More

A standard Japanese temple. Spacious, clean, quiet. Some shops along the side of the temple entrance. Nothing paricularly impressive there but it was good for a stroll. More
