I visited Hida Sashiko on several occasions and would definitely go again if i had the chance to visit Takayama once more. I'm not sure about the workshops origin, but seems genuinely rural and traditional Japanese. We practice and inherit the Japanese traditional embroidery culture, "Sashiko." Sashiko is specialized in sewing each simple stitches by hands. It was developed as a method of strengthen the fabric and now it provide a beautiful and traditional hand-made crafts. We have a variety of crafts and display some art pieces. Professional craftsmen may be available for demonstration. No fee for entrance and feel free to come inside and take a look of our beautiful Sashiko pieces.

Simply beautiful store. Many delightful, well made, and exciting items. Many items come in a variety of sizes and are very affordable. I loved so many things, but had to settle on a few. The staff is very polite and can answer questions in English. I highly recommend visiting the shop, you will love it!
