By far an outstanding value for money day out. This was or first cooking course and I was concerned it would feel like a step by step guide on how to make just one dish with a back-at-school feel but this experience was very different and just perfect for us. There were 4 couples on our course (Max) and the... More

This is the first ever review I have given on Trip Advisor but I felt it was important to give feedback on the course run by the affable Van, that I attended recently when staying in Hoi An as it was SO good. I had done a lot of due diligence on cooking courses and 'The Green Bamboo Cooking School'... More

Right from the first moment Van meets you at your hotel she is all smiles and that continues throughout the day. Visiting the market you can ask her anything about the food and the culture she always answers in an understanding way and gives all the information she can. Her class at her home is very informative and wonderful smells... More

Really good market tour, got to try a lot of things, including century eggs! Great being able to choose what you wanted to cook and Van was very accommodating when I said I didn't eat red meat. Some of the dishes we made were fantastic, including the stuffed squid.

This class was recommended as the best cooking school in Hoi An. A big call so we had high hopes. Ms Van took us through crowded markets to buy ingredients, spent plenty of time explaining everything thoroughly, then we went back to her house to make many of the best Vietnamese meals I have tasted. We all left after almost... More

A fantastic start to the day perusing the market and tasting mysterious foods (all yummy) followed by a feast creating session in the kitchen. We learnt to cook firm Vietnamese favourites - spring rolls, papaya salad, BBQ pork, pho and more. Van was an amazing teacher - she was engaging, patient and incredibly interesting to chat to. Such a great... More

I really enjoyed my day with Van and the other "apprentices". What impressed me especially was the fact that we were never rushed. We spent a long time at the markets buying supplies for our cooking adventure, with plenty of time for photos and private purchases. Finishing the market trip at "Banana Split" cafe was lovely. It must have been... More

I did alot of research on which cooking class to do in Vietnam as I wanted a hands on experience. Van delivered in bucket loads! The eight of us picked our dish we wanted to cook and then we went to the markets to shop for the produce. Van explained different things in the market and we could try different... More

This was a highlight of our visit not only to Hoi An but to Vietnam itself. Van picked us up in the morning and we wandered round the market to buy the ingredients we needed for the meal we were all going to prepare ( individual choice ). In the market Van explained so much and answered all our questions... More

Had a great day cooking with Van. Learnt so much and had a great meal at the end of it. It was fantastic going round the market, finding out where all the ingredients come from and experiencing the atmosphere. If you're in Hoi An, a Green Bamboo cooking class is a must. Also check out Van's daughters photography, it's really... More
