The climb up here and further up to the ruined church is worth it for the views it affords but make sure to save time for swimming in the terraced travertine pools (not the Cleopatra pool).

Pamukkale means cotton castle. And yes it is a very spetial landscape. Walk all along the upper side until the end. People normaly concentrate where one is allowed to take a bath. But if you keep on walking sudantly you are almost alone in such a natural wonther.

they are working hard to restore it but since now it's a great example of art. very picturesque and i m sure they r going to use it, sooner or later, for real and modern show. recommended
This theater is among the big ones of the antiquity. It is very nice as a whole and situated in proper place. A visit in the morning would be more comfortable.
Bit of a climb up but well worth it just to sit in the amphitheatre and mull over what went on there.
This is a fairly large and quite well preserved theatre being part of the remains of the ancient Grecian city of Hierapolis. There's some ongoing preservation work so scaffolding present currently (May 2013) along with a crane. It's around 5 minute walk up a steep path from the Cleopatra's pool area passing by the remains of other ancient structures.
Most amphitheatres are crumbling and cordoned off, but this one allows you to climb all the way to the top and it includes the stage.
Takes you right back to the ancient times to see the whole place as well preserved as it is today. The theater, temple, museum, necropolis, fountains and many other buildings are inspiring. It seems more real even than Ephesis, perhaps because of the way the restoration was done. Fabulous sight, don't miss it.
The amphitheatre site high on the hill above Pamukkale so has a spectacular view of the valley below. The acoustics are amazing as well. You could hear people on the other side of the amphitheatre clearly without shouting which is amazing given the age. If you are at the Cotton Castle make the walk up the hill.
It definitely was worth walking uphill to see the amphitheatre in it's absolutely beautiful and green surroundings in Hierapolis.
