Miletus was for us one of the topics on our West Turkey tour. The ompressive old theater was great. Don't forget to walk to the old harbor. That place is really unbeatable. The impressive ruins were brought to life by the fable re the failed attempt by city states to unite against the Persians.

Just there yesterday. We went in the late afternoon and though still hot was much nicer time to visit. Another fine theatre to see. The council chamber of the reign of Antiochus IV is well preserved. It was a wet day, but that didn't get in the way of spending quality time there.

Difficult to imagine such a big and glorious city on the site, but it is still lot to be seen there - including a big theatre, paved roads and ruins of a numerous buildings. Everything is very vell presented on the explaining signs of every attraction, in english. There is also a kind of an open-air museum a bit away... More

One of the powerhouses of the ancient world, this place is well preserved and quite interesting to see. The layout and the location of the site are quite informative and enhance one's understanding of how such a place could have been the force that it was. GO AND SEE.

Once a major port of the Ionian League, Miletus was renowned as a centre for art, politics and industry. It maintained its importance for 1400 years, from 700BC, until its harbour filled with silt. Two lions still guard the entrance. There is quite a deal to see as the site is expansive. Archaeological work is underway near the old harbour... More
