The museum at the prehistoric site of Ban Chiang is an unexpected gem out in the countryside. There's a variety of exhibits, some diorama's, artefacts and it's all well presented. Also interesting when you're not an archeologybuff with an interest in pottery. If you're with kids, take them to one of the many potteries or shops and let them paint...

From the road from Udon Thani to SakornNakorn It was a really easy drive from the highway to a pleasant shady little area with some local restaurants and shops .... once inside the museum ....very reasonable entrance fee.... it was a surprisingly well done museum .... with wax dummies excavating the actual site and great pictures of old Thailand where...

We have been to Thailand many times and always take people to Ban Chiang, but sadly no more, as the cost,for what it is, is far too expensive. The markets across the road are great though!
