Everyone who is bitten by the shutterbug ought to visit the Dasaswamedh Ghat at least once in his /her lifetime. However be warned, once will never be enough to capture the essence of the place. I clicked more than 300 pics but felt there was much more left. The only let down of the place is the garbage that is... More

This Ghat was where it all happened ----the ceremony ---held every night was spectacular but I would hate to be there at peak season with not only hundreds of tourists but thousands of Indians celebrating their religion. I got there early had a pleasant spot but soon others came & elbowed their way in front of me. Early morning the... More

The best time of course to visit the ghat is early in the morning or late evenings. A boat ride early in the morning is absolutely beautiful. Do not miss the evening aarti here which is the most fascinating experience at the ghat. Those fond of photography would be glad to witness it.

We Reserved a chair next to the place where the ceremony was. Avoid taking the boat because it does not look as good.

Our boat stopped there for about an hour to see the evening ceremony, there were thousands of people on the banks and on the boats. It starts at 7pm and lasts for around 45 minutes or so. Very colourful, laud prayers and drum beats. It sums up of how religious and spiritual India really is. Definitely worth seeing once.

Located on the Ganges river, Dashashwamedh Ghat is the main and most spectacular ghat out of 84 ghats in Varanasi. Very close to this Ghat is " Kashi Vishwanath Temple- one of the twelve Jyotirlingas in India. Jantar Mantar, an observatory built by Maharaja Jai Singh of Jaipur is also located nearby this ghat. It is said that this Ghat... More

Undoubtedly Dasaswamedh ghat is a good place where Ganga Arti is performed at two side-by-side places. The arti in itself is worth watching and unforgettable experience. We saw the arti sitting in a boat in front of the arti venue.Thousands assemble ther at that particular time. But the ghat is dirty and slippery occupied by local priests leaving hardly any space for visitors.One...
