we walked around this ghat in the evening, and we found several nice restaurant options plus hotels nearby. well light, and seems safe, even later at night.

We visited Asi ghat recently on our Varanasi trip. Our Hotel has a good view of Asi ghat and very close to it . So we get chance to visit it in the morning as well as in the evening. very calm and peaceful as compared to other ghats in Varanasi. you can just relax and sip chai or lassi...

Has a lot of eating and shopping places. Make sure you have something at the street cart guys. Great stuff!
We stayed a few days in Asi Ghat and one of the best things there was for us the Gren Lassi shop at the Assi Crossing. The owner Shyam makes a truly outstanding lassi- excellent!!! He is also a very helpful, friendly person with a huge smile and developed quickly into a friend. Maybe not as famous as some other...

Asi Ghat is a nice place with lovely people. It is a very relaxed place to spend some time. You vind some nice shops here and nice places to have a drink or to eat.
Assi Ghat as the name says is due to the a small river called " Asi" which meets ganga at this place... "hardly anyone can see now".. this place is crowded during early morning and late evenings and lots of travellers hang out here sipping a cup of tea or smoking, chatting or taking photograps... Nice Place to spend some...

It's not as elaborate as aarti at the central ghat in Varanasi, but you can get "up close and personal" here, and you'll be invited to join the pujari in offering light and flowers on the bank of the Ganga.
Roamed around here last year for 7 weeks, this year only 3 days. Many people remembered me allthough. Lince place for making photos, take a boattrip or have lunch, look at the (small) puja at 6 pm. Dislike: the beggars, but that's in many places in India.
Nice hotels and restaurants in general. But BEWARE of dishonest/ confused billing at Vaatika Cafe on the Ghat.
For many heritage hotels and Ganga view cafes, this Ghat is much more peaceful than Dasaswamedh. Walk from Assi to other ghats is recommended for all round Varanasi experience.
