Great view but to much harassment. You can not walk on the ghat without someone trying to sell you something. More

Build over a period of hundreds of years, Banaras ghats are world famous in isolation as well as due to their association with ganga river. There are 2 types of Ghats: Bathing (majority; most famous is Dashashwamedh Ghat famous for its Aarti) and cremation ghats (mainly Manikarnika and Harish Chandra ghats). It is daily routine of thousands of people to... More

Varanasi is like nowhere else on earth - packed, noisy, dirty, smelly, holy, out-of-this-world, amazing, wonderful; it's all here. Seen from the holy Ganga on a boat ride early in the morning as the sun rises, the city surely looks as it did hundreds of years ago. You can walk right along the ghats from one end to the other... The whole river experience is what we go to see and it does not disappoint. Yes, it is busy, yes there are hawkers, yes there are lot of cows in the streets, yes it is smelly in places, yes it is loud, but that is what makes up this totally unique experience. I read reviews where people complain about what... More

Fabulous place with evening ceremony. We spent Xmas day sailing on the Ganges. Our only problem was the guide we'd been given who was trying to make money all the time - but that's India More

Varanasi or Kashi is older than traditions. Varanasi presents a unique combination of physical, metaphysical and supernatural elements. According to the Hindu mythology, Varanasi liberates soul from human body to the ultimate. It is the Ganga Ghats of Varanasi that complement the concept of divinity. Ghats of Ganga are perhaps the holiest spots of Varanasi. The Ganga Ghats at Varanasi... More

If you are in Vanarisi, you need to visit the "Ghats" means shores of the Ganga river. I would highly reccommend the boat tour at sunrise. This is where the movie "Water" was filmed. There is a sense of spitual signifance that is felt. My family enjoyed this very much. Be aware of pikpocketers. More
