Bara Imambara is built by Asaf-ud-Daula, Nawab of Lucknow, in 1784. It is also called the Asafi Imambara. Bara means big, and an imambara is a shrine built by Shia Muslims for the purpose of Azadari. The Bara Imambara is among the grandest buildings of Lucknow nice to visit

Its a nice monument. Every time you lose your way, its fun and exciting. When the guides will lite a match stick and u can hear the sound far....when u see the big dome without any beam....u r amazed. Baawdi...is also good. Hear the legend of hidden tunnel opening under Red Fort in new delhi.....from the guides.

Then you are greeted with a huge mosque on your right side and a grand building at the front. A huge hall inside beneath which many narrow passage ways... More

ITs a nice place, can visit once, for Indians its reliving their history books, for the visitors its the architecture that can fascinate. The place only has 1 english guide, we had 1 hindi guide who was in more hurry than us. I guess if we had a better guide then we would hv enjoyed more,
