Having been to various temples of India, Eklingji temple was worth a visit. A temple compound with numerous shrines in it, the temple gives you a good local feel as it is visited by the local community of Mewar. make sure you whisper your wish into the ears of Nandi...it may come true. The only thing i disliked was that... More

Because it is some way from Udaipur and not used for worship, we found this beautiful temple quiet and peaceful. It is in a lovely location.

This one should not miss. The built is perhaps the oldest, the deity being worshiped since 750 AD. First time I saw lord Shiva with four heads in the temple. The architecture and surroundings are very holy. The only problem is reaching this place from Udaipur city, one could do it only by car. Rajasthan tourism has only cars without... More

I visited with my family. The temple is not that big. Nothing special to see other than religious beliefs. Biggest problem is parking. If you are travelling with aged people who cannot walk, parking can be an issue since nearest parking is around 200 feet away from main temple and the road is a one way lane, thus stopping a... More

We found this temple and the nearby Nadga Temple very dissappointing and just didn't fell comfortable with the people we encountered. This temple would not allow cameras, but there was not too much I would have photographed anyway. Getting to this temple was also a marathon car trek through lots of back roads and we felt it was just not... More

Eklingji is the ruling deity of Mewar Princely State and the Ruler Maharana rules as his Dewan. it is a major pilgrim location for all mewari people. I went there many times but we go there on mahashivratri from Udaipur to Eklingji on steps, that is a 25 kilometer long way for overnight walking. architectural instance of mewar dynasty. a... More

This is a functioning religious site where, reportedly, the Maharana himself comes weekly for pooja. The main temples themselves are in fine flamboyant style, while subsidiary shrines are rather poorly reconstructed. Of more interest architecturally are the much earlier (10thC) ruined temples at Nagda nearby which are beautifully proportioned and ornamented. They are set in lovely countryside on the edge... More

I managed to get in, just before the temple closed at 1:30pm, so I had to rush through my visit. Photography isn't allowed inside. Its best to leave all your bags in the vehicle, if you have the option. The architecture is wonderful and there are so many shrines and smaller temples to visit in the complex, after you have... Eklingji, near Udaipur, is a hidden but impressive temple complex, primarily centered on two impressive four-faces Shiva lingam. While several of the temples are off limits to tourist, this is definitely worth the visit on the way back from Nathdwara.

I've never seen so many shrines in one temple, a very interesting place indeed, and quite contemplative. Shame about the village, it seemed a bit run down.
