Beautiful fort, its well maintained and view from the top is stunning. Best time to visit this place would be morning or late afternoon to catch beautiful sunset.
You really don't need a guide if you are on your own or a couple and have enough time to spare. Local guides are generally good and not so expensive.

Mehrangarh fort is one of best fort n Rajasthan. I visited many fort, but this fort is majestic, clean and very well maintained fort. You can feel the historical proud here. The great view of blue city.
Nostalgia of Rajputana days.. We liked it very much considering the huge strong structure, the design which stood the test of the time. One would enjoy it more if able to browse through the history of Rajasthan and particularly, Marwar.
This is one really huge fort with lots of history behind it. Would recommend that if you have time, take headphones instead of a guide. Spare at least half a day for this fort. Meherangarh fort is a picture perfect tourist attraction, where one gets to see the glimpse of historical grandeur. Many artifacts and rooms are well preserved and provide good entertainment to visual senses. A must visit in Jodhpur!

This fort is in private hands and is perhaps the best maintained fort in India. It is also very grand, built in red/ pink stone. The stone carving is best of all Rajasthan forts. Entry is reasonably priced at 20-25 Rs. for Indians.
