Nice fair trade option for handicrafts. Clever upward looking son who ahs a really good looking homestay option as well though we did not get a chance to try it. I hope that the money made here is distributed fairly but it most certainly is more fairly so than in the city

We spent an afternoon here as part of a village tour. What a lovely family, they fed us delicious food and shared stories about their craft and life. Of course I bought a Durry as the design was fantastic and I really wanted to take a token of this great memory - though large, it was packed into a small... More

For a short visit (half to one hour) to see real artisans at work maintaining a wonderful skill - visit the dhurrie rug weavers at Salawas Village outside Jodhpur. Take a camera and a credit card. It will be hard to resist their beautiful designs. All the rugs are handmade on a loom. The weavers are happy to explain and... More

During a two day stay in Jodhpur, we opted for a safari to discover rajasthani craftmanship. It is a very nice place, thanks to its welcoming and friendly hosts, and a good place to buy locally produced cotton carpets through a cooperative composed of 50 families.

We visited this place in August. We booked a Safary Tour from Yogi's Guest House and it definetely was worthwhile. Not only the tour but also the family involved in Pukhraj Durry Udyog. We had lunch with them and they showed us the carpet that are being manufactured by them. The business is a cooperative and the revenues are used... More

Like other reviewers we stopped here as part of the Bishnoi village tour. The family is very friendly and welcoming, the food served is delicious and the kids are adorable! We felt no pressure to buy crafts which was wonderful. Prices are affordable with 95% going to the family who made the crafts and 5% going to the village cooperative.

My sister & I only had one day to spend in Jodphur, so we decided to go on the day safari with Chhotaram hoping to fit lots into our time there - we weren't disappointed! We are both interested in the creative arts so we found the insight into local crafts really fascinating, and it was nice to actually get... More

We ended our one day tour in the bishnoi villages in this place. We enjoyed a delicious meal and a really nice time. We were explained how they make the "durrys" and how this tradition has not changed over years. The family also explained how the co-operative is ruled as well as many other interesting things about Indian culture. Finally... More
