This fort is okay, but it's just filled with hotels, shops, and people harassing you with false friendships in annoying attempts to get you to spend your money. Alternatively, visit Jodhpur instead! Jodhpur's fort comes with a complimentary interesting audio tour, whereas Jaisalmer's fort is just irritating.

The fort is almost like a city within a city. There are about two hundred families living within the walls of this imposing building. There are many streets full of homes, bazaars and temples, the Jain temple is well worth a visit, with an ample supply of restaurants. Some of these restaurants can be found up many steps which can... More

Amazing place - it is the most populated fort in the world. Really interesting to walk through town, temples and shops.

View from the ramparts is only a small reason to visit. The living fortress has its own charm with the hustle and bustle inside. Jain temple inside is fantastic ( note they close by 12.30 or so).
