The Udaigiri caves along with Khandagiri caves (locals know the place by Khandagiri) form a union of cave architecture. Built in the rocky hilly outcrops-which now have almost got submerged into the growing urban jungle. These hills have become a refuge of people wanting to spend their evenings and enjoy the breeze with a view of setting sun on the... More

Its really brilliant to see how Indian Sculpture had developed in the ancient ages. the Carved out buildings from solid rock are reaaly worth seeing. I just could not imagine how such thing was possible centuries ago

really enjoyed walking around this cave complex. the caves are not very deep, and it's easy to see them with a few stairs and a bit of walking. great views of the city. some of the caves have beautiful carvings that endure, even afer so many centuries. definitely worth a visit.

The caves themselves may not be that spectacular, but the hustle and bustle of this place on the edge of Bhubaneswar has a fascination of its own. From the stalls at the bottom, one side leads up to old jain temples, and the other to an active temple. The latter is quite a climb up steep and narrow steps. The... More

This is ancient set of caves that have been carved into dwelling for ascetic monks. It is filled with trails that lead to assorted caves with lots of carvings. The hike is a little arduous in places, but worth the effort. Also lots of monkeys looking for hand-outs!

I was lucky enough to visit the site during a 3 day religious festival and it was very rewarding. Loads of people from all over, food and gift stalls, and a theater festival. The caves themselves are very interesting.

We expected some caves and finally, it turned out to be a hill climbing experience...except for some good pictures that we had clicked there, and a view of the place at the hill top, there is nothing else there
