Its all about the Tughlaq King Muhammad bin Tughluq who transferred the capital from Agra to Daulatabad. Its a great ruined fort but yet preserves its eternal essence. A must see place. It has a pathway which is full of bats and which can not be ignored. Its architecture is one of its kind and made to resist from enemy.

This fort is situated on the way to Ajanta & Ellora from Aurangabad. Those who visit Ajanta & Ellora should also pay a visit to this dilapidated fort. View from the top of the fort is marvelous, people who like old and historical monuments and structures should spare atleast half day for visiting the fort and they will definitely enjoy... More

View from the top is excellent. It is high and you have ti climb 1hr for fast climbing but it is definitely worth it. Indians pay 5Rs and foreigners 100Rs for entrance. It is on Aurangabad - Ellora road.

The size of this place is just amazing, as are the structure and the story behind it. Rather busy, but there's so much to see that it is possible to avoid the big crowds.

Start early morning as it needs 3/4 hours of track with steps, dark channel and lot of things to view and understand. Marvelous piece surrounded by water cannal, huge tanks for water storage, massive hall with carved pillars, bharat mata temple, bara dari. It is difficult to imagine how this fort would have lost to enemies. Do not forget to... More

I could not make it to visit the top of Daulatabad fort to the Mughal pavilion . My leg muscles trembled as I crossed the steep steps through dark channel . This was an invincible fort surrounded by triple layer of walls separated by deep trench and moat . One can see a large number canons in the entrance courtyard... More

It is a ruin world. It looks that once upon a time it was a glory of its time. But compared to other forts of India it is poor. One should not go by its beauty but its historical background. Its on the way of Ellora Caves hence a must see in Aurangabad.
