The fact that this lake is located close to the beach makes it amazing. Such a beautiful sanctuary for birds. Very scenic.

The lake is very clean with trivandrum on one side and quilon on the other.The views are excellent if one goes by a boat ride.The waters are filled with fish, snakes and jelly fish .These backwaters merge with the adjoining sea during monsoons. Full of greenery, kappil beach enchants everyone.dont miss the boating.

Had a short one hour trip on the lake. Visit now before the big hotels move in as this is a truly scenic spot.

There is nothing to see or do here. Just water on either side of a long stretch of road and a jetty area. Its about 20 mins from Varkala in an auto rikshaw and costs about 60 rupees.

Took a boat ride on the Kappil backwaters. it costs Rs. 1000 for 1 hour package on a small motor boat - can seat around 6-8. packages available also for 20 mins, 40 mins, etc. at lower cost. There are also house-boats available but i did not experience that
