This private museum is a collection of treasures which is rich with Kerala's tradition, history and influences. Consisting of three levels - right from the entrance to its exteriors reflect kerala's temples and homes and palaces. Our guide [sadly i cannot recollect his name] gave us an excellent introduction of what we would encounter, its significance and led us through... More

The Kerala Folklore Museum houses an excellent collection of artifacts spanning the history of Kerala. There are statues, paintings, masks, theatrical costumes, musical instruments, household items, and much more. This museum may be the best way to see the cultural history of the region. It is certainly well worth the trip from Fort Kochi. The museum is also close to... More

Best to see on your way in or out of town, as it is 40 minutes or more from the Fort Cochin area, this museum, created from parts from ancient temples and old houses by its private owner, houses a collection of art and cultural artifacts, including lovely bronzes, an extensive collection of masks, and costumes, masks and props used... I know that this is a very special art but I found it boring to watch 4 men on stage apply make up for an hour and then perform a very old form of drama enacting a folklore story. My travel mates were more impressed than I was and there were many people in the audience taking lots of photo's.... More

This is a museum put together by one man. The staff are very informative and passionate about the collection. They are self funding and rely on revenue generated by visitors to stay in buisness. It is well worth a visit and not too far for a Tuk tuk ride from Fort Kochi.

Our visit to this museum was a highlight of our trip to Kerala. It certainly was the best of the lot of tourist attractions in Cochin. The building is a unique expression of traditional Kerala architecture, the collection of objects is first class, and the staff is friendly and informed. (That is more than we can say for other museums... More

This understated museum is packed full of curiousities and antiquities offering a real insight into past Keralan life. You are left free to wander around but there's little narrative to explain what you are seeing. Sad to see some pieces being offered for sale to raise funds.

We went at 4pm for the 1 hour martial arts show which was very interesting and informative. We really enjoyed it. After this there was a 1 hour makeup show then the kathakali show but we didn't stay for this. Much more people seemed to come in for this and I was surprised as the martial arts was very good

Museum has good collection of antiques, but for the people who are affectionate about it. Did not see the show though. For person like me, it was just okay, have seen similar collection at other places and not so fond of it. If you have a kid with you, its difficult to even spend half an hour in there as... More

This place is a little gem. The host and facilitators are passionate about their art and tradition and put on a great show for people to get a chance to take in the ancient keralan culture.
