A after a trek up there it was nothing more than an ongoing building site with not much to see other than views of the surrounding areas, don't waste your money.
Best is if you go with the guide. Will explain all in details and it will be interesting. In my opinion this is an average place when comparing other tourist attractions. Good architechure built.
Everything in Leh is nice and interesting, including this palace. Its hard to imagine that the unending maze of dark empty rooms with low ceilings and spooky feel would have been once a lively bustling palace ! Am surprised at why it is not covered in the itinerary of most of the tour operators. We covered it on our own... More
the architecture of dis palace is briliant .. its like steps as u go up the hill..we climbed up using the narrow streets of the town .. the place has an entrance fees but isnt maintained that well.. its dark at many places & many places r poorly kept.. It brings in mind the might of the royals who used... More

Why you should: 1. if an unguided tour - discovery part becomes interesting . We felt like kids left alone in a palace to find for ourselves. 2. Amazing views of Leh city. Why you should not : 1. Place is mostly in shambles - its not a "palace". So if you like all done up places - skip it... More
The views from Leh city and around from the other buildings such as Tsemo and Shanti stupa are better --- rather than going inside. The palace is a bit run down.....and not sure how much remains. I made it about 5 min inside and decided to turn around.
Easy walk from the center of Leh through the old city. This impressive structure dominates the valley and has great view of the city. It is really interesting to walk through the corridors and stairways, it is like a maze. Really enjoyed my visit.
