My recent visit to Manali gave me an opportunity to visit the Rohtang Pass, situated at a distance of approximately 50 kms from manali. This is the Pass between two mountains always covered with Snow even in summers. Be sure to read from the news while going to this place as this is closed 25% of times during summers. Only 4 by 4 Driven vehicles (Maruti Gypsy and Tata Safari etc.) can go to this place as other cars dont have much power to... more

Rohtang pass at an altitude on about 13000 ft, is always covered with snow the year round. The pass is usually open for public from May to November. We went in the first week of November , just lucky enough to find the pass open. The road to the pass is managed by the Indian Army, and they keep it... more

The visit to Manali is incomplete if you do not go to Rohtang Pass, the highest point in this area at 3900 m above sea level. Rohtang is 51 km from Manali.
