It is amazing to see a place where one iconic figure once lived. This place is very well maintained in terms of cleanliness. We were explained by one of the volunteer about how to use charkha and my kids had an hands on experience on it. It definitely brings peace to your mind and you will really wonder how Gandhiji... It was a very peaceful place with a small but extensive museum dedicated to Gandhi. It is connected directly to the river with steps leading down to it. It's a haven within the city. More

It takes time to move around the see the entire area. I believe one needs to enjoy the serenity of the place. The place is on the bank of Sabarmati River and huge. It’s full of Gandhi’s photo. The place is reasonably well maintained. More

Mahatma Gandhi's home / ashram is worth a visit. It shows how this man, so respected in India (and elsewhere), lived and tells the story of his life. There are guides who show you how to spin cotton on site, using a traditional spinning wheel. You will see the extent and content of Gandhi's library. I recommend that you go... More

This was my first trip to India and got the chance to visit Ahmedabad, and I knew Gandhi Ashram can't never be missed. Got on the field trip with my schoolmates from IIMA to reflect the contributions of Gandhi in regards to leadership and serving others. This is the place that you must never miss because you will get to... More

The Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad, so named after the holy river Sabarmati, situated on the river’s banks is such an example. This site no longer functions as a working ashram but as a museum and an institution whose aim is to preserve and propagate the legacy of the Mahatma. Hundreds of visitors, both foreigners and locals, with curiosity and feelings... More
