The Sidi Saiyed mosque is a very simple structure, visible from the road (right opposite House of MG / Greenhouse / Agashiye) It is a small, open mosque. Not all the screens (jaalis) have been completed, but the stone work in the completed ones is stunning in intricacy.

After taking lunch at Tulsi Restaurant on 14th April , 2013 we moved to Sidi Saiyed's Mosque in the centre of a busy traffic circle near Lal Darwaja to see for the first time the world acclaimed exquisite stone window tracery . The Mosque was built in 1573 by Sidi Saiyed, an Abyssinian in the retinue of Bilal Jhajar Khan,... More

One can connect the city with its cultural monuments. One such right in the heart of the city. It's a mosque intricately carved in the stone. A magnificent display of artistic work. An iconic symbol instilled in the famous mosque has been even adapted in awards and even for the IIM A campus.

Yes, the stone carving is impressive, but what we liked the most was the fact that local people use the courtyard to sit and chat and the many children are playing there. There was a lovely atmosphere of children having fun.

The mosque was in use so I didn't venture in. Got a feeling of not being that welcome... Very plain looking but I didn't expect it to be as old as it was. The location looked interesting and could warrant some exploration.

The mosque has amazing architecture but has not been maintained nor clean, right in the middle of a road being used as a roundabout. Important monuments such as these should be properly maintained but still a must see.

Given the hype and the use of the Tree Jali as a symbol for the city, I expected the mosque to be larger and grander. Its actually very small (and very elegant) and seeing the Jali screens in in front of you makes them all the more incredible. Note: women are not permitted beyond the point where shoes are removed... The mosque has a very beautiful D shaped carving in red stone which has a very intricate workmanship involved. While the work is nice, it can be seen as well via photos on Internet. It should be on your agenda only if that place is enroute to some other place that you plan to visit. It just requires a 5... More
