Be sure to take a guide! Eder was excellent and as we walked the property he was able to bring the whole experience to life. There is no set fee for your guide so you can "tip" your guide as you wish. Eder was a university student and escorted us for a couple of hours, we gave him 10,000 pesos....

The Quinta is just outside the centre of Santa Marta and it's very easy to get there (fromt the centre a taxi costs 6000 COP).It's sorrounded by a huge garden with some spectacular trees filled with iguanas!You can see the rooms where Bolivar spent his last days and died and you can also visit some arts exhibitions inside the Quinta....
