plaza botero is a tourist must see because Botero is a famous artist from the area. but the park itself it just a small open area downtown with a ton of people, beggars, amnd statues. Don't expact to sit and relax. But go walk, take a couple photos, then go shopping for cheap clothes in the area.

Plaza Botero is definitely worth a visit. Nice place to sit and admire botero's sculptures. Don't miss the fantastic museum.

Good place to go, lots of statues and museums. However I would only visit the area during the day. It gets very sketchy at night, there is a pretty good police presence, but be careful with pickpockets as the area gets very crowded sometimes.

I actually didn't know what I was going to see when I went to the plaza, but it is brilliant! The statues are fantastic as is some of the surrounding architecture. Medellin has created such a welcoming atmosphere in so many places and this is definitely one of them! This is a great example of what a fantastic city Medellin... More

Yes it's great to view the many reproductions of Botero's sculptures, but it seems like the setting is like a market place where one can not just sit and appreciate the work of art without being peddled something by a vendor or distracted by another vendor yelling out his offers. Perhaps if one went super early in the morning when... More

This plaza is really nice, but it was so overrun with drug addicts and homeless people when we were there, that it kind of put us on edge. The statues are really cool however, just make sure to watch yourself, as muggings are common.

I wouldn't go here just for this but if u close by go and have a look. Seen in other reviews that ppl say its alot of ppl... More

It was great to see all the sculptures, but too crowded for me. A lot of beggars too, but it is safe. There were policeman all around.

Fernando Botero is Medellin + Colombias leading figurative artist. His works feature a figurative style, called by some "Boterismo", which gives them an unmistakable identity

Awesome to see so many iconic Botero sculptures in one place, but this place is definitely one where tourists are seen as easy prey. Expect to be approached by mimes, hat vendors, etc. I would consider this plaza a "must-see" if you've made the effort to visit Medellin, but just stay alert.
