It was a nice morning trip. Great to see so many pandas (red and Giant) enjoying themselves. I also found the video interesting and amusing (especially the examples of successful and unsuccessful natural breeding).

Great photo ops. More like a zoo less like a reserve. Wanted to cuddle a panda but the price was astronomical (3500rmb). Can easily spend most of the day walking around the grounds. Save your money and get there on transit instead of a taxi or guided tour
If you go around 8am you get to see the baby pandas eating breakfast and playing before they fall asleep in the noon sun. Lovely grounds. Not enough snacks for weary tourists.
Brilliant - if you do nothing else, visit this fantastic place. It is huge allow for a full day. Don't book through a travel agent you can easily get there yourself by taxi - entry is exceptional value for money - plan the whole day. So much to see. You will loose hours just watching these playful bears. Baby panda's...

As many have posted before, get here early, early, early! We arrived shortly after 8, which is essential for a number of reasons:
1) Around 7, the Chengdu traffic is still pretty calm, whereas an hour later it can grind to a halt in a lot of places. We spent 40 Yuan for the cab from central Chengdu, certainly worthwhile...

Actually one of many, many reasons to visit once you've seen this country.
Our tour did not allot enough time to explore the entire Panda Center, but the visit was certainly worthwhile.
We spent most of our time on the path in the center circular area that surrounded housing (like fake caves) for the pandas and gave them their own...

My partner and I had to choose between other important cities in China and Chengdu, considering time limitations. With the sole purpose of the panda experience, we decided on Chengdu. Amazing, fun, impressive! Would do it again in a sec!
Chengdu is a clean, flower-full, friendly city with opera halls & shopping avenues.
The Panda Research Base is astounding! It's...

A must see in the panda-capital of the world! Unfortunately when we were there there were no really little baby pandas, but the teenagers and adult pandas were really active (mostly related to bamboo eating).
We went early, but it was a hot day, so most of the pandas were inside by 11am. The mama and baby that were playing were fascinating, could have watched them all day. Contrary to what I had read, it cost 2000RMB ($325 Can) to hold a baby panda for 60 seconds. The woman at the desk in the nursery...

This is such a super place. The area is positively lined with shady bamboos of many different varieties and the pandas are in spacious, forested enclosures and appear relaxed and happy. The aims of the centre are worthy and the information supplied to visitors is excellent. The pandas themselves are just charming, many of them are in little groups, all...
