We have been visiting this orphanage for 4 years and over that time we have seen an incredible amount of work done to improve the conditions for the children. We have donated money for specific items such as fans, whiteboards, food, toiletries, stationary etc all of which we have proof have been purchased. We have been delighted to see other... More

I don't necessarily agree with people who want to shut down all 'orphanages'. It's a more complex issue than whether the children have a living parent(s) or not. What I don't agree with are places like this where you are lied to from the moment you walk in through the gate. Everything there is wrong, ridiculous quotes for the price... More

We debated going to this show with our 3 young children thinking that they would enjoy the experience as they love dancing; then we did loads of research on this Cambodian 'issue'. Have a look at www.thinkchildsafe.org Our tour guide was very diplomatic when we asked him on his views of this show. I really believe that the positive views... More

People have different ideas about this orphanage but let me tell you that it is a really business. We can say it has 2 faces, one for orphans and one for owner and hid family. However, it is a real business for his family. I found out and know that this guy before ran Foreign Languages Center and it bankrupted...and... More

Is an orphanage a tourist attraction? I don't think so. Can you go to visit an orphanage in Europe or USA just for "fun"? i don't think so Can you take picture of the kids? i don't think so. But yes you can help them supporting some real NGO with work or donation. But you will not help visiting them... More

The nightly concerts of the Acodo children are a pleasure to watch. It is unfortunate that ill-informed negative commentary can be so damaging to some of Cambodia’s most vulnerable children. Anyone who has spent any time at Acodo Orphanage will testify to the enjoyment these children take in performing in their nightly concerts and to the dedication of those who... More

Acodo offer a daily dance, plus their children practise for another hour each day and often travel to perform in other parts of Cambodia. That is unfair and you can see that in the children's eyes. ] The tour starts by offering details of their projects. The pitch is informative but the detail is worrying. Staff costs at the orphanage... More

A new site has come out showing the scams which are happening in many Cambodian orphanages: orphanages.no - and this orphanage is one of the top offenders. I was recently contacted by a girl whose friend is raising tens of thousands for this orphanage, part of the claim being that the children needed childcare. When looking further, you can find... Would you have strangers walking in the room of your kids to take some photographs? Please start thinking before you "help"!

I have been - I do believe all children, orohans or abandoned should be supported, as it is none of their own doing. However, I cannot imagine these children are enjoying performing every night of the week. This should be one or twice a week and only if that is to give the children something to look forward to. These... More
