A visit here by boat gives an insight into another world and way of life. The flooded forest around Kampong Phluk is also fascinating, submerged for half the year, the trees have learned to adapt and are an invaluable part of the extraordinary ecosystem here. Beware the toll booth as the fees tend to change. It should be $12, but a commission may be added for your driver. « less

This village is quiet a drive outside Siem Reap but worth it. Since I was a solo traveller, I had to pay $35 for the boat tour which in Cambodia is VERY expensive. The two kids who operated our boat spoke no english and made no attempt to speak to us. The engine kept failing and the kids tried to... More

Brilliant tour organized through Beyond Tours and agency connected to Sojourn. The boat ride was an experience and the village itself amazing. Stories about Tonle Sap and the water flow are worth hearing. We were just continually amazed that the boats were traveling in water just knee deep so it was like traveling through a mud bath. And the little... More

BEST PART OF TRIP! Be ready to be adventurous. I had the time of my life walking through the mud, motorcycling, tuktuking, boating, and every other means of transportation to get out there. Most definitely a must if you are in Cambodia. This trip will change your life and will be remembered for years and years. More

We went there in june and we knew the water would be low so we would not see the town nor the forest inundated. However, we loved it! You can apreciate how tall the houses are and walk around the town. You have to pay a fee to enter, which I think it was something quite new at the time.... More

l like this one very much because local people there are very friendly but they don't access to medical care. We should support this village. More

This fishing village was worth the visit as it gives a clear and vivid picture of life in and around water. The children have nothing but they are happy More

The most surprising. It is an isolated fishing village, which must go by boat, with about 8 meters high houses on wooden sticks that will not be flooded in the rainy season. Live "floating in the water." It is not only a unique landscape, elevated houses, is to see how they live in a so so different from ours. Floating... More

We heard that tourists are charged 15$ each to by boat tickets at a ticket counter short after Rolus and found that inappropriate as we heard from others and saw in Google Earth that there is a road going to the village on dry season. We asked around and did it as per follows: We took a Tuk-Tuk and said... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Kompong Phluk and I would definitely recommend this to all to see how the lakeside Cambodians live. It is amazing, the houses are suspended on 10 meter stilts. As we visited during the dry season the river was low so we did not see the houses floating but still a worthwhile experience. Interesting to... More

We went there a few days ago. I knew it will not be as great as in the uploaded photographs on tripadvisor as this is the dry season and the water would have receded. But it was not bad. The houses in the photographs were on dry land, but their tall stilts were great view for us. We went to... More
