With up to 5-6 cruise ships a day during the season visiting Dubrovnik and all of their passengers going onshore, there are sometimes up to 8000 or more people at any one time in the (potentially lovely, if empty) Stradun. And all of these people only have 2 places of access - the gates of Placa and Ploce. What if... More

We liked walking it when things quietened down a little because there are loads of restaurants, shops and bars. There are music performances at the top of the stradun where it opens up

The main thoroughfare through Dubrovnik old town runs from the Pile Gate entrance, west to east, up to the remarkable bell tower, beyond which is the marina. It is walkable in five minutes, but there is far too much to see for that to happen. However, I did see someome jogging along the street - there is no traffic in... More

Listen. I know I can't talk you out of visiting the Stradun, and walking up & down many times. But there is so much more to Dubrovnik! Yes, the Stradun is beautiful, but it's also HOT (in summer) with little shade and TONS of people. If you want to see the charm of the Old Town, wander just a block... More

Elegant and consistent ancient architectural design renovated after the wars of the 1990's. Limestone pavement looks polished after centuries of foot traffic. A safe pedestrian street for children, dogs and coffee drinkers at outdoor cafes.

We were fortunate enough to be in the Stradun for the New Year's festivities and will always remember this as a wonderful experience. The Stradun is stunning from beginning to end.

The Stradun is a fantastic place to people watch. Plenty of little eateries housing homemade icecreams and lots of lovely delis. Well worth a visit and a must for any budding photographers. Only precaution would be to avoid in the rain as the path stones are lethal.
