Mljet has two lakes on its interior. These are good for swimming as the water is warmer than the sea. The boat trip to the islet in the larger lake was worthwhile.

You can take a 9:15 boat to Mljet to Polace. You will be bombarded with people trying to sell you apartments to stay in. There is only one hotel in Pomena side which is 2 star at best so might be a good option if you want to stay here. We stayed for 3 days. the great and small lake... More

Called in at Pomena to visit the lakes and stay overnight on the quay. Great food and service and the lakes were well worth a visit. Lovely.

This island is a must-see when you visit Croatia. Go swimming in the small lake, it's definitely a breathtaking swim: clear, refreshing water, beautiful scenery and butterflies flying over you.

Unfortunately it poured when we there but you could still tell that it was beautiful. Despite the rain we took the tour of the National park which is very pretty. If in Polace, you should try to eat at Restaurant bourbon, one of Croatia's best restaurants.

Great place for a day out. Catch the boat from the Old Harbour, it runs every hour on the hour. Magnificent gardens and ruins dating to Roman times. Excellent cafes and bars. Went on a tour with the recommed amigo tours to this island persuaded my family to go because I had read about it and it is truly amazing

beautiful island. be aware no where to buy anything, and gets very hot so take plenty of water try and go early to avoid the tourists as it can get very busy lovely boat ride to island
