I recently flew into Iquitos, Peru for a Amazon adventure. (read my review on Tapiche O'Hara Reserve) Iquitos is the largest city in the world you cannot drive to, it is only accessible by plane or boat. It is frantic, exciting and noisy with the no rules traffic only horns used to make progress. Then you have the serene beauty... More

I could write endlessly about this company and the experience we had with them. However I'll put it into two words, rugged perfection. This isn't a luxury cruise through the amazon. It is a first hand experience, in your face and personal interaction with the amazon jungle. Everything that I would say about this company I'm sure has already been... More

Hector and Alfredo from Amazon Explorer are simply the best. From the moment we arrived in Peru and picked up at the airport we felt totally relaxed, safe, and well looked after. We had a marvellous and intimate ayahuasca drinking experience with a unique native authentic Shaman, called Don Ramón. A lot of westerners come to Peru to drink ayahuasca,... More

Hector and Bertien are real enthusiasts. They helped us to organize 5-week-trip to Matses tribe. They have vast knowledge and were the only agency in which we were asked about vaccinations taken. It was not only a holiday, it was lifetime experience. This was one of not many lifetime experience that I will never forget. At Amazon Explorer they will... More

3 nights at the Ceiba Tops Explorama inn lodge and resort provided jungle and exploration ,village visits and encounters with the Amazonians, river cruises including pink dolphins so quick and elusice to be photographed, piranha fishing only to catch a catfish with a wooden pole, brazilian tapir so friendly roaming the grounds as the saddleback tamarind monkeys! Food was fresh and delicious... More

We stayed 3 days in Pacaya Samiria in January this year. I would really like to appreciate the professional approach of Jesus, Hector and our local guides Marden and Aladino. We really enjoyed stay in local family house as well as directly at the camping site in jungle. It was a great experience of us and one of the top... More

My wife and I signed up for the 3 day, “Mild” adventure in early January 2013 and were quite satisfied. From looking at Amazon Explorers’ (AE’s) offerings, and talking to the guides it’s clear that they specialize in providing people adventures (and survival tactics) that make us look like wimps, so part of my review is also to make sure... My husband and I did the 3 day Pacaya Samiria Express in September. It was an adventure of a lifetime. The guides were knowledgable and fun. Marden even took us on a guided tour of Iquitos the day before our adventure - taking us to the Manatee Reserve and Zoo. The adventure itself is hard to describe - you have... More

In May my brother and I did the 3 day Pacaya Samiria Express. If you have the time, I recommend staying a little longer. From the minute they picked us up from the airport, I knew these guys were different. They took us to our hotel, helped us shop for last minute items, and showed us to a good restaurant.... More

My partner and I did the 5 day Pacaya Samiria trip in August. Overall we had a wonderful experience. The highlights of our trip were definitely all the animals we saw (including lots of monkeys, snakes, birdlife, a sloth), also hunting for caiman at night in a canoe, pirana fishing and our local guide Herman. Herman was very knowledgeable and... More
