Some fantastic displays and collections are really let down by incomplete, slightly incoherent or just completely absent commentary. I would put this museum on the "do not miss" list for Cuenca. A small admission fee gets you into several floors of Cuenca and Ecuador history exhibits that are wide ranging an interesting. Outside are preserved ruins to explore.

Museum is free and although mostly in Spanish, still well worth the time it takes to walk through. Because most of the museum is in vignettes, you get a good grasp of the cultural and bio-diversity of Ecuador. Very interesting

First of all this attraction costs nothing. That's right it is free. We were told by tour guide from a city tour to check this out and I am glad we did. It provided a very comprehensive review of the peoples of Ecuador and their history. It included history of their society, their religion, their foods and even their music....
