The old cathedral is every bit as inspiring as the new cathedral. There is a small admission charge ($1.50 each) which goes to the restoration of the facility. You cannot take pictures but you are allowed to pick a postcard featuring some aspect of the cathedral. They also have available a brochure about the history which has several representative pictures.... More

A Harpist was playing outside, at the entrance, in the evening. The illumination of the Cathedral, with the music was magical. More

El Sagrario, Old Cathedral, is the oldest building in Cuenca, built in 1557. Situated opposite the Park Calderon, its brilliant white, pristine facade and ornate bell tower catch one's eye immediately, reflecting brightly in the sunlight. It was unfortunately closed for renovation when we visited Cuenca, so we were unable to enter. It is home to the Museum of Religious... More

The Restoration efforts are wonderful. Soon we will be goingthere to attend a concert. The acoustics aught to be good. The BAD thing is ~ there is not one single word of English in any of the descriptions, no brochure, not even in Spanish. Too bad. More

If you want to hear the local concerts this is a great lace to start - the acoustics are quite good and it's surprising how good each concert that I have heard has been. Often free, this is a great deal for those who are interested in more than pan flutes. More
