Katong, located in eastern Singapore, is famous as an enclave for the Straits Chinese (Peranakan) and Eurasian communities. For over 100 years, these two communities have lived, ate and shopped here. Along side the conservation houses, you will find lots of places to eat. Katong has a wide array of international and local cuisines. More

Katong district is a hidden gem in Singapore in terms of not many foreign visitors find their way out there, so the historic part of Singapore comes across in an authentic, charming and unspoiled manner. Katong is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Singapore. It retains an 'old Singapore' feel with beautifully-maintained shophouses and colonial era homes and a wide array of interesting restaurants on Joo Chiat Road. It's a great place to stroll and explore on a Sunday afternoon. More
