About
Cruising since 1987. For more than a decade and a half, bumboats have been plying the Singapore River. The story of Singapore River Cruise begins in 1987. The "Clean Rivers Campaign" of 1983 saw the relocation of bumboats to Pasir Panjang. The familiar painted faces of our Bumboats were due to disappear from its home, until SRC was awarded the tender license to run river services here - the first also, to operate such services along the river. We are entering a new chapter in the Singapore River story. In this modern age, Bumboats on this historic waterway remind us of its rustic charm. SRC has been preserving the heritage of this important river for more than two decades. Its bumboats have become the icon of our river to visitors and locals alike. 2008 was a year when our iconic bumboats underwent a transformation. The diesel-powered engines of SRC's fleet made way for a new generation of electric ones that boast quieter engines and zero CO2 emissions. These are the very boats that operate along the Singapore River today. SRC is committed to greater excellence. Under its strong management, the company has developed a firm network of channel intermediaries from government agencies, embassies, event organizers and other operators in the tourism sector, both local and overseas. From a humble fleet of 4 bumboats in 1987, SRC has since increased its number to 24 today with a few new additions coming onboard soon.

A nice experience after walking all day. Suggest sitting on the right side so the commentary matches up with your view. Pre-recorded but I learnt a few things.

It's all very methodical and slightly impersonal but the commentary (in Engliish) was interesting (and recorded). Recommend hopping off at Marina Sands end and hopping back on later, for an easy chance to check out the area.
Book in advance, even if just an hour before. Queues can get long around 7pm ish.

We timed our ride to see the 15-minute spectra of light, water, and orchestral music water show at the Marina Bay Sands. The show is a totally fantastic choreography of colours, dancing water jets, lasers, mist, and sound.

We enjoyed a river cruise round trip from Clark’s Quay as part of a tour. Tour was very nice and boat in good condition. It was early evening so we sat out back and enjoyed wonderful breezes.

We’ve done this on previous visits but it’s not cheap and not particularly good value as there are no longer any hop on hop off stops at the other quays so all you can do is one 35-minute loop from Clarke’s Quay. It’s a pleasant ride however we were appalled at the unfriendly service. We went to the ticket office at Clarke Quay early to buy tickets. Before we could ask what do with my collapsible mobility aid, the woman started screaming at us that we couldn’t take it on the boat. Ok, fine but she wouldn’t listen when we tried to ask where we could store it. Some other tourists also waiting for tickets were as shocked as we were at her rude and loud attitude. With no help from anyone at the ticket office we finally found a place where we could lock it up by a police CCTV camera. We enjoyed the ride but didn’t feel that safety was a concern as our driver spent most of the trip on his phone without even a hand on the wheel. And we were disappointed with the recorded commentary which was well out of date. It kept talking about the Merlion with no reference to the fact that you can’t see it because it’s covered over. Wouldn’t bother again.

The staff are unfriendly and unwelcoming, which is off putting.

The cruise itself was good and the audio was great, except it cut off mid-sentence which was annoying.

Seats are very uncomfortable.

I’m glad we did it, but wouldn’t do it again.

Excellent cruise along the river! We did it at night and loved the views along the river especially the views at the bay of Merlion and Marina Bay Sands Hotel! I highly recommend this short cruise!

As a first-time visitor to Singapore, the Singapore River Cruise was an absolute delight. Boarding from Clarke Quay, the open-air boat provided a scenic 35-minute journey, offering breathtaking views of iconic landmarks such as the Merlion fountain statue, Marina Bay Sands, and the impressive Central Business District skyscrapers.

The narration on the cruise shared interesting tidbits about the city's history, making it an informative and visually stunning experience. I recommend taking the cruise early in the day for a quieter ride and better photo opportunities. The cruise gave me a unique perspective of Singapore's attractions, and it's a perfect introduction for anyone exploring the city for the first time.

We took the Singapore River Cruise from the Clark Quay as part of our group tour. We went on the first boat of the day at 10a.m. It is approximately about a 35 minute in an open air boat narrated ride down Singapore River crossing the many unique bridges along the way as well as sights of the various buildings and attractions seen from the cruise.
Along the cruise route, we saw statues of five boys jumping into the river, a spaceship like club house building, and into views of the Merlion fountain statue and of course Marina Bay Sands. Views of the tall skyscrapers in the CBD (Central Business District) are also seen- definitely a different perspective of it from a boat ride. Make sure you stay on the outside of the boat if you want to get photos as the cruise does not stop along the way the Singapore River. Well worth to take this cruise if this is your very first time in Singapore as it will orient you to the locations of the many attractions in Singapore.
