the guide said that the name translated into big city. but it was not. it is nice, so artistic with silver workshop. i went to visit one silver workshop and it was amazing. so don't get fooled with the name: big city---it is still the best historic site i ever seen in jogjakarta

Just love this place. Hard to tell you why but feels really authentic. The little temple is cute. The market is nothing special but there are no tourist and people are so nice. Old Javanese people with nice smiles... It is just the real Java.

You can go there only if you are interested in silver making process. It will be enough 10-15 minutes to look at this. It's quite there when there is no tourists from big buses. If you'll miss this place don't be dissapointed. You lost nothing.

Like the previous reviewer said, I came here just to look at silver and batik. You get a 5-min introduction to how silver/batik is processed. And then you are ushered into a showroom where they hope you will purchase something. If you are not interested in silver/batik, give this place a miss.
