When you are in Yogja, you must go and see the Prambanan Temples; to see this ancient temple as the sun sets was truly spectacular! When you enter the gate, we would strongly recommend that you hire a tour guide for IDR 75,000 (about 8 USD) as they are fluent in many languages and are incredibly knowledgeable with regard to... It's not Borobudur or Angkor Wat but worth a trip. There are many temples and very picturesque. We have some nice shots to remember this holy place.

Set out of town the Prambanan temple complex is truly inspiring. The work the Indonesians have put into rebuilding and repairing the temples after the eruption of Merapi some years ago is inspiring. We hired an official guide from the ticket office and this helped no end as we had everything explained to us in detail with added bits of... More

I liked the Prambanan temples but they were by far not as impressive as for example Angkor Wat and Borobudur.

6 striking "candi" built during the 6th Century B.C. Volcanic ash had covered the place twice and both times the locals with UNESCO's help, cleaned the temples and have restored 75% of it. Work is still going on. You still have to be careful and when you enter the main temple building, you are required to put on a helmet,... More

We visited Prambanan upon arrival to Jogyakarata in a tour arranged by our hotel (Malam 1001). We visited in the morning so it was not really that hot. we enjoyed the amazing architecture and learning about the Hindu Gods. There were some tourist but not very crowded so it was a good opportunity to take photos many photos. There were... More

Amazing place to go to, I would say this is a MUST visit place if you come to Yogyakarta. It's a huge complex, but the main Candi Siva is under reconstruction and therefore you are allowed to enter in batches of 50 a time and safety helmets are provided. Out of the four chambers in the Candi Siva, you are... More

Prambanan is as important to visit as Borobudur. Unlike its more famous cousin, it is a series of temples, rather than one huge structure. The sculptures and reliefs are just fantastic. Aside from the main group of buildings, there are some ruins of other smaller temples scattered around the site, but to be honest, we didn't think they were worth... More

+ One of the epic heritage you could witness by yourself. + With a great story behind too (read here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prambanan) + Due to the earthquake in Jogja couple years ago, some of the original temple building are fell off, the restoration is now on progress + The area is pretty big, but with lots of big trees surrounding, you...
