The Hong Kong cityscape at night is spectacular but this is just awful. It seems like they couldn't get all of the buildings involved and the ones that did just didn't put the effort in. Five star reviews confound me, I can't imagine leaving this without disappointment, although as I say, the cityscape gets five stars.

Hmmmmmmm. . . . . . I know this is very popular, and the technology is impressive, but it is just buildings lighting up in time with music so as a spectacle, it is beaten by the normal night skyline which, when lit up normally, is more impressive. But it's very cheap to do the ferry ride (about $25AUD) and... More

An nice visual treat if you happen to be near Avenue of the Stars at around 8pm, but nothing to really go out of your way for to see. While synchronizing a light show of this magnitude is a remarkable engineering feat... it somehow lacks the thrill you'd usually get from watching a massive fireworks display.

I made the effort to get to the Kowloon side near to the Avenue of Stars by 7.15pm for the 8pm show just to ensure I reached here in good time from my hotel. I have to say the whole area was packed and I chose probably the best evening during my stay so that I could at least see... More

I read the reviews here on the light show and they were accurate thanks tripadvisor. It's a nice view of the harbour when you watch it from Kowloon side near the avenue of stars. Gets really packed quickly with all the amateur photographers setting up they tripods before the big show. The music is bad the narration equally bad and... More

I had heard of this show many times and frankly knowing to pass some days in HK did not want absolutely missed it. Obviously the first evening arrived on the Waterfront Promenade at 9 I couldn't enjoy the show because it was already finished. The show is only once a day at 8 p.m. The second day I tried to... The show takes place at eight o'clock each evening. We took the evening Ferry to see the show from the bay. It's about 20 minutes of free and charming action. The ferry ride around the harbor is a pretty decent experience too and not a bad investment of an hour of time but not earth shaking either.

We were so looking forward to the lights show and, to be frank, we're a little underwhelmed. But it is free and it is worth seeing the skyline like this. We viewed from Kowloon, so could see both sides of the water. Get there at least 30 minutes before it starts if you want a view from the front.
