Fun way of spending a few hours in Kowloon Park by watching all different types of amateur “Kung fu” performances. We even got to see a lion dance performed and were able to have our picture taken with the “lion”.

The venue is at the south-east corner of Kowloon Park. For the viewers, there was a big tent with rows of plastic chairs set up. I got there about 20 minutes before the performances started and there was still a number of empty seats left. Remaining viewers had to stand.

I stayed for an hour watching the performances and then moved on. It’s not a must do activity in Hong Kong, but I’m still glad I saw it.

Near the Kowloon park is an area called Kung Fu corner where at some times there are a number of people practicing/demonstrating Kung Fu. There is a statue of two hands clasped in what looks like a Kung Fu pose. When we visited there was not really anyone at the corner. Walking through Kowloon Park there were some groups practicing Kung Fu so it is clearly part of Hong Kong popular culture.

We missed most of it, due to the wifes shopping. Nice scenery and definately something that you don't see everyday. Audience participation at the end.

This was a really impressive display of Kung Fu and the best part is that the presenters range from young to old, very inspiring to all. My just turned 6 year old was interested enough to stay and watch for the full 2 hours. It kept my attention as well. The performances also ranged from Tai Chi to sword display to lion and dragon dances, really suitable for children. It can be hot but we found shade to hide under and we were right at the edge of the performing area. Bring water, snacks, sit down and enjoy a great way to spend a leisurely Sunday afternoon.

Great performances of traditional kung fu in a quiet corner of Kowloon Park. On te day we were there there were displays of the new years Lion Dance as it was still new year.

External and internal styles of kung fu were displayed, Tai Chi, Wing Chun, Dragon Style and many more. Well worth it!

The Kung Fu Corner continues to provide free cultural dance and martial arts performances in Kowloon Park between 2.30-4.30pm each Sunday afternoon.

This is an interesting opportunity to see amateur demonstrations by individuals, teams and even school groups, performing traditional lion and dragon dances, Chinese woo shoo, kung fu and other martial arts freely for the small crowd of spectators each weekend.

The weekly event is well organised and provides visitors a neat opportunity to witness cultural performances at no cost. The lion dances in particular are nice to watch and some of the performers are quite good at it.

Note: Quickest way to the Kung Fu Corner at Kowloon Park is Tsim Sha Tsui MTR Exit A and follow signs (and sounds of the performances).

Don't expect to see world class masters there but still it's almost two hours of cool Kung Fu performances by seemingly ordinary people. Kowloon Park on Sundays 14:30-16:30 only, don't miss.

a brilliant couple of hours on a Sunday afternoon, well worth seeing. Only downside was having to stand in heat in sun with limited seating.

It was a great experience to assist for free to a kung fu exhibition in this park. You can also join in at some point of the shows to learn some movements

Every sunday one or more kungfu schools give demonstrations of the kungfu forms they have been taught. If you are knowledgable of kungfu it is very interresting otherwise it is still nice to see the show.
