I go to jinshaling by joining the tour that cost 280 RMB. I choose JInshanling because it is less crowded and it's truly worth it. I think it's the best experience in my 6 days in China - I hike during summer time, i bring 3 bottles of water, and it's not enough, I buy more water from vendor that... More

I had read many reviews for the Great Wall as I was unsure which part of the wall I wanted to hike or which was better. I ended up trusting other reviewers and booking with Beijing Downtown Backpacker's Hostel. What you should expect: 1. It costs 280 RMB. This is more expensive than other trails, but it was well worth... More

The best experience of our time in China. Once you are on the wall - at the first tower - you will be truly amazed at the beauty and wonder of this place. I was taken by the shear grandeur of it all. Be prepared to walk, climb and crawl and take your time. Remember it isn't about how you... More

Truly a wonder of the world. I've just returned from the one day trip; hiking from Jinshanling towards Simatai. In total, there are 22 towers to conquer and you should cover it within 3.5 hours. The first 9 towers are relatively easy hike but it gets significantly difficult as you hike to the end. There are 2 sections where you... More

Being pretty unfit like I am, this was quite a challenging section of wall but if I can do it, most people should be able to. The last few towers are very steep so don't go to hard to early. We went with Beijing Downtown Backpackers after reading all of the well deserved good reviews. They drop you there in... More

Based on Trip Advisor reviews, we booked a Jinshanling hiking tour through wildgreatwall.com (e-mail wildgreatwall@gmail.com) including meal, entrance fees, transport and guide. Our guide Joey was very informative, friendly and professional. He always put our safety and comfort first. I had food intolerances and nothing was too much trouble. The hike was challenging and enjoyable. Jinshanling was just what we... More

We chose Jinshanling to see the Great Wall because it was 2 hours outside of Beijing. They sky was blue the sun was yellow - nice change from the pollution of Beijing. We took a day tour thru tour-beijing.com and David Stone, our tour guide, was fabulous! We took the cable car up to the wall and back down again.... More

The tour we chose was from Beijing Downtown Backpackers and it was terrific. After being dropped off, you are set free to traverse this mostly unrestored and atmospheric section of the wall. The trek is about 5 km of actual wall section and the second half is quite challenging as it has some steep inclines and unstable footing. It is... More

We went with 3 and 6 year olds and had a long day which we were worried about - kids did not complain once and loved every second as did we. From the minute you see the wall you are spell bounded. Brilliant and must see.

Tour with a private driver and a guide was perfect to spend a day hiking from Simatai West (as Simatai was closed) to Jinshanling
