We just got back from a day safari (a morning and an afternoon game drive) to Nairobi National Park and are absolutely thrilled about our experience. It blew all our expectations out of the water. We went hoping to see a lion and came away having seen almost an entire pride (8 cubs and 3 adult females but no males)...

Started with excitemet... and enthusiasm, as I was visiting the 1st National Park in the African Sub-continent. We hired a taxi at 8am from our service-apartment near Fairmont The Norfolk Hotel and negotiated for 2,500 KES(To & Fro + taking the ride on the same vehi inside the park).
First thing that strikes you, as a foreigner, is the entry...

While on a work trip I spent a Sunday morning with a hired driver exiting the park. It was rainy season and a bit more difficult to see some species, however the giraffes alone were worth the trip. I loved being so close to them in their natural environment. I highly recommend the trip if you are unable to go...

Anytime is good enough to visit the park. The thrilling thing about is the fact that it is very near and one does not need to plan as it is just a drive away. The animals one sees.
Had a great time at the park. Although I had seen many animals in Maasai Mara, it was still a wonderful experience to see more animals in the park. Couldn't get enough of the Zebras!!
In Nairobi we negotiated with a taxi driver about the price he would take us for a half day, and agreed for 4000 ksh (~40 EURO) to pick up from hotel in the morning, do a safari in the park and drop us back in the afternoon. The park fee is about 3200 ksh per person (adult). As it was...

You need a 4x4 and a map or hire a local guide. Entry fee is a little high - but remember tourism is a key source of revenue for Kenya. If...

Safari in the middle of a bustling city, only in Nairobi. One minute you are in a traffic jam the next a oasis of calm, green and animals roaming around. You have to leave home early like at dawn, to actually have a whole day driving around passing zebras, giraffes, Lions if you are lucky. It's a great day out...

I was in Nairobi on business and had a free Saturday. I was slightly skeptical as I'd been on Safari a few times before and wasn't sure if the city/ safari experience would be enjoyable.
However, the contrast of the sky scrappers and realising just how close to its surroundings Nairobi is was really interesting. What a juxtaposition. Almost immediately...
