Three arched gates and a two-story pavilion are typical of the architectural design of that period. Completely reconstructed after years of conflict and falling into disrepair, it is now made of modern concrete and steel. It presently serves as a secondary entrance to Kwanghwamun Park. « less

A poor reconstruction made out of concrete of the original gate. Even the name plate of the gate looks cheaply made. Despite the poor quality of the gate, it cost quite a bit of money. I was really surprised when I found out how much. There is now an underground museum that is worth checking out if you have some... More

Take a photo with the statue of King Sejong, another at the fountains and maybe one with the police officers. Don't just look at your eye level when exploring the square, look down on the ground for the story and history. When one is tired, Kyobo Bookstore is just across the street. A place to get a cuppa as well. More

This gate is one of the best place for travler, because of it make you feel "Korea" however can reach to there.. Only watch it away from 100m There will be lots of cars between you and the gate ;) Grab a telescope http://www.visitseoul.net/en/article/article.do?_method=view&art_id=7943&lang=en&m=0003001006001&p=06 More
