I have just returned from the most memorable experience of my life, treking the the Kokoda trek. I chose kokoda Brothers an Australian company for their outstanding professionalism and experience. The Guides were professional and had outstanding historical knowledge of the entire Kokoda campaign and can highly recomend this company to everyone. It was wet, Muddy and the hardest thing... More

The most amazing experience ever. Something that everybody should do. Be careful when booking though. We used Kokoda Trail Expeditions. Regrettably, the trek leader was terrible and seemed more concerned about getting high on the local bitter nut drug. No real knowledge of the history, no medical kit, we ran out of food mid-way and ultimately, he himself did a... More

Totally agree with all the other comments especially using bush poles instead of hiking sticks; taking very little with you; using a personal porter; and being fit to trek the Kokoda. Initially I trekked Owers Corner to Kokoda and was so stunned by the beauty of the country and the people. This is only a portion of what the Aussie... More

If you are thinking about it, do it. You will not be disappointed. This is a humbling, spiritual experience. The locals will touch you, it will get under your skin. My first trip was in 2009 with my hubby for our 10th wedding anniversary, we then went back in 2011 with a school group and ready to take another school... More

From Kokoda to Owers Corner. One of the toughest treks I have done. I thought I was well prepared, but was second guessing myself on the second day, we were still climbing, and the rain did not stop. I was carrying my own food and water, a 30kg pack all up, and seriously in the zone. But on the third... More

I walked the track in 2009 with my mum. We went from south to north, but I know people who have gone the other way – I’m not sure if one is harder than the other, but I certainly found it pretty challenging. I trained hard, but probably not long enough so by the end of the day I was... More

great experience. Only had a few people's insight into the track. Was a tad anxious prior to arriving in PNG. this disappeared as soon as the trek started. Just buckled down and began the adventure open minded and energetic. Important to physically prepare and go off checklist of items to bring. Don't go overboard with the whizz bang gear just... More

An awesome experience. I didn’t know what to expect, but whatever that was, it was better! It’s very challenging, and I recommend to anyone thinking of going 2 things: firstly, make sure you train, and train really hard. Second, choose your operator well. We went with Getaway Trekking – they were amazing and made it such a great experience. They’re... More
