Al-Hosn Palace, surrounded by high white walls, is located within the same city block as the Cultural Foundation. This used to be the only building on Abu Dhabi island that was not made of palm fronds (before about 1960). The fort features in old photos that can be seen displayed in the Cultural Foundation.
